White Sox Player Review: Jermaine Dye

Ballplayers should not be able to do on a baseball field what if they did it outside the ballpark could get them arrested. When you throw a ball at someone with the intent to do harm it is the equivalent of Assault and Battery.

Putouts: The Tigers ranked 13th in total putouts with 4,333. The sale jerseys were ahead of the Tigers with 4,339 and the Yankees were behind the Tigers with 4,327. The top teams in putouts were the Giants (4,383), Red Sox, Phillies and Padres were tied, Rangers, Cardinals and Rays were tied, Mets and Reds were tied, Twins, Angels, sale jerseys and Tigers. The team with the least number of putouts was the Pittsburgh Pirates with 4,235.

That’s not the point, though. What if this would have been a playoff game or even a World Series game? If this same instance took place in game seven of the world Series fans would want the call to be correct. It wouldn’t matter how the correct call would come to be.

In the 11th, Kelvin Herrera (2-3, 5.02 ERA) gave up a solo home run to Jordan Danks, the second HR of Danks’ career. Closer Addison Reed (2.40 ERA) retired the side to earn his 11th save.

Man, does that seem like a long time ago. The only time “confident” is used with Jerry Owens at this point is when people say they’re confident Owens has played his way off the major league club.

The Knights got off to a slow start and they continue to sputter along leaving them in the cellar of the IL South at 7-20, tied for the worst mark with the Toledo Mud Hens, and in the throes of a five game slide. Duente Heath was the first of what are now 22 transactions with righty Matt Zaleski going on the disabled list, righty Brian Omogrosso (promoted) and lefty Donnie Veal (optioned by the parent White Sox) being the latest to be added to a growing list.

Another guy who will get a look just because of his status on the 40-man. Acquired from the Braves in the glorious Scott Linebrink trade this offseason, Cofield hasn’t pitched above double-A in his career. Furthermore, he hasn’t exactly pitched well in double-A, posting a 4.29 FIP with Mississippi in 2010 that hardly inspires confidence.
